As a first-time handler, the primer format made the scent theory actually click for me instead of drowning me in jargon. The tracking sections gave me a step-by-step way to build drills, and my dog's indication got noticeably cleaner within a couple weeks.
I've been training detection dogs for years and still picked up a few new things from this primer. The section on how scent moves and pools gave me a better way to set up my hides. Straightforward and no fluff, which I appreciated.
