I have a husky mix who sheds year-round, and this slicker actually pulls out the undercoat without yanking her skin. The bristles are fine enough to grab the loose fluff but not so sharp that she squirms away. She used to hide when I grabbed the old brush, now she just stands there.
The non-slip grip actually stays put even when my hands are slick with dog slobber, which I didn't expect. It pulls out way less undercoat than the old brush I had, and my collie doesn't flinch anymore when I get near her back end.
Bought this for my golden retriever who sheds like crazy, and the slicker pins grab way more undercoat than my old brush did. Only gripe is the pins are a bit sharp on his skin if I press too hard, so I go gentle around his belly.
