A hands-on look at the Viktos Patrolux K9 Glove: what it does well, where it fits, and who should choose it for tactical K9 work.
Quick answer
The Viktos Patrolux K9 Glove is a solid choice for handlers who need a low-profile, abrasion-resistant glove that works with touchscreens and holds up during long days with their dog.
Why the Patrolux K9 Glove stands out for daily handling
This glove is built for tactical K9 work, not general duty. That means the design prioritizes dexterity and durability over heavy padding. The 4-way stretch material lets you maintain a natural grip on leashes, bite bars, and gear without fighting the glove.
Abrasion resistance is a key feature here. Whether you're doing bite work, tracking, or just handling a high-drive dog, the glove protects your hands from rope burn, gravel, and incidental scrapes without making your hands feel bulky.
What to consider before buying
The Patrolux K9 Glove is not a bite-resistant glove. If your primary concern is protection from bites during training or apprehension, you will need a dedicated bite suit or push pillow. This glove is about grip and abrasion protection, not puncture or crush resistance.
It comes in Black and Small options. If you have larger hands or need a different color for uniform compliance, check the size chart carefully. The minimalist design stays low-profile under most uniform standards.
Decision rules for choosing the Patrolux K9 Glove
- Need abrasion protection for daily handling?: If your hands take abuse from leashes, gravel, or gear, the Patrolux K9 Glove provides good abrasion resistance without sacrificing dexterity.
- Need bite protection?: This glove is not designed for bite work. For bite protection, look for a dedicated bite suit or gauntlet. Choose a different product if bite protection is your priority.
- Need touchscreen access?: The glove is touchscreen compatible, so you can operate a phone, tablet, or radio without taking it off.
- Uniform compliance?: The low-profile design and available black color help it stay under most uniform policies. Check your department's rules before buying.
